Baggage control always feels like a bit of a chore but one mum got a shock when spotting her suitcase on the conveyor belt and realised it had been vibrating loudly
A mum was mortified while waiting to collect her suitcase from the conveyor belt at the airport only for it to arrive “vibrating at full volume” – prompting “everyone” to turn and stare at her.
The summer months are a popular time of year, typically spelling the arrival of many people’s summer holidays. Booking a flight to somewhere with guaranteed sunshine and a slower, more relaxed pace is a goal many people share - after all, who doesn’t want a break away from the daily grind?
After the holiday is over, baggage collection can feel like a bit of a chore, especially with ever changing rules about what’s allowed in your suitcase and hand luggage and what isn’t.
Lots of people return home armed with souvenirs and trinkets from their travels, some of which may be flagged at baggage control as many items from abroad are subject to strict UK customs rules.
One mum found herself feeling embarrassed though when her suitcase arrived on the conveyor belt and was vibrating loudly - and it wasn’t due to anything she bought while away, it was actually one of her own personal items raising people’s eyebrows.
The mum in question, who posts content online under the name Isme Apolo, shared a video of her experience to TikTok.
Isme had been travelling with her young daughter when, while waiting to collect their suitcase, she started to feel embarrassed people would assume the item causing the buzzing racket was a vibrator when it wasn’t - it was an electric toothbrush.
Over the top of the footage, Isme added text which reads: “POV: your suitcase comes out vibrating at full volume and everyone is staring at you."
The clip then cuts to the mother and daughter opening the suitcase to investigate whose toothbrush was causing such a scene.
Isme asked: “Whose toothbrush is it? Is it yours or mine?”
After her little girl’s Frozen-designed toothbrush was seen to be still and silent, Isme picked up her own toothbrush and confessed: “It’s mummy’s."
In the caption accompanying the footage, she quipped: “It’s not what you think." In the comments section, people were keen to share their thoughts on the situation. One person said: “This happened to me too, in front of my dad. It was unfortunately not an electric toothbrush."
Another said: “This happened to me except that my electric toothbrush was in my carry on." A third shared: “I did not think it was an electric tooth."
While a fourth commented: “I would not care if it was my personal device going off."
Another TikTok user said: “I’d have to hold it in the air and announce the toothbrush cause ain’t no way I’d leave that airport leaving everyone thinking that."
To which Isme replied: “Hahaha exactly what I did. Luckily I was travelling with my toddler so could announce it very loudly to her!”
