FDA Drops Complaint Against Whoop’s Blood Pressure Tracking Tool
The US Food and Drug Administration dropped its complaint against fitness tracker brand Whoop Inc. over its blood-pressure tracking tool, marking an about-face after the agency initially asked the company to disable it.
The FDA said Tuesday that Whoop can continue offering the feature without the threat of agency enforcement. The Boston-based company and federal regulator had been locked in an apparent stalemate since last July, when the FDA sent a warning letter arguing that Whoop's Blood Pressure Insights feature made the Whoop MG tracker a medical device. Whoop refused to remove the feature while continuing to negotiate with the agency.
