Second Mongols bikie escapes from custody in the NT within month Wed 24 Jun 2026 at 1:31pm A second associate of a Northern Territory outlaw bikie gang has escaped from custody, just weeks after a patched member of the same gang fled a court dock, sparking a five-day manhunt. In a statement released this morning, an NT Police spokesperson said investigators had charged a 31-year-old man with escaping lawful custody after fleeing Corrections officers at Royal Darwin Hospital overnight. The police spokesperson said the man was a serving prisoner at the time and was "a known associate of the Mongols outlaw motorcycle gang". It comes after Mongols member Brandt Graham, 44, fled the dock in the Darwin Local Court earlier this month. He was arrested in dramatic scenes by members of the dog squad on June 9 after spending almost a week on the run. However, the 31-year-old Mongol's escape from the hospital shortly after midnight was less successful, lasting only eight minutes, according to police. "Police responded immediately and, with the assistance of [the] Dog Operations Unit and Casuarina Police Station, located the man on Trower Road," a police spokesperson said. "He was arrested and returned to Royal Darwin Hospital before being handed back into Corrections custody." The man is due to face court at a later date.
