The cost of diesel in the US dipped below $5 a gallon for the first time since mid-March, offering relief for one of the global economy’s most vital inputs.
The national average retail price fell to $4.98 a gallon on Wednesday, according to the American Automobile Association. That’s well below April’s peak of $5.69 a gallon, though still significantly higher than the cost on the day before the war, which stood at $3.76 a gallon.
