Prince Harry and Meghan Markle rumoured to visit Princess Diana’s childhood home during UK trip The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are believed to be heading to the UK in a matter of weeks, with some believing their trip could involve a visit to Althorp House: the childhood home of Harry’s late mother As speculation about Harry and Meghan's expected UK visit continues, there are rumours that they may visit the Prince's late mother Diana's childhood home during their trip. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are believed to be heading to the UK in a matter of weeks, marking their first joint visit to Harry’s home country in four years. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, along with their children Archie and Lilibet, are expected to arrive in Britain in July to attend an event marking the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games being held in Birmingham. Rumours have been rife on where the Sussex family will stay during their visit, as recent reports claim King Charles has offered for Harry and Meghan to stay in royal accommodation during their rare family trip. However, a new theory on where they will stay has arisen, as royal sleuths have connected clues that may point to their accommodation plans. It is believed the event in Birmingham will take place on July 10, which has subsequently drawn attention to the nearby Althorp House: the childhood home of Harry’s late mother Princess Diana. The ancestral estate in West Northamptonshire is located one hour from Birmingham, and according to the estate’s website, is closed to visitors July 10 and 11. This has prompted speculation that Harry and his family could visit, or even stay at, the Spencer family home during their trip. The Mirror reached out to Harry and Meghan’s representatives, who chose not to comment on the rumours due to security reasons. Althorp House is where Princess Diana is buried, and given the Sussexes will be arriving in the UK just after the late Princess of Wales ’ birthday on July 1, it would be a significant visit for Harry and his family. Harry has previously stayed at Althorp - which is owned by his uncle, Charles Spencer, the 9th Earl Spencer - during a visit to the UK, most recently in 2024 when he returned for the funeral of Lord Robert Fellowes. The Duke has also spoken fondly of the family estate, writing in his memoir Spare about the time he brought Meghan to her gravesite for the first time in 2022. Ahead of the Sussex’s visit to the UK, sources claim that King Charles has offered for Harry, Meghan and their children to stay in royal accommodation. It is understood that due to security reasons, Harry has accepted the offer to stay in Buckingham Palace. It has also been claimed that Harry, along with his wife and children, will meet with the King during their trip to Harry’s home country. A royal source said: “Any meeting between Harry and Meghan and the King would represent a huge thawing of relations." “Despite everything that has occurred in recent years, the King loves his son and daughter-in-law dearly and would relish the chance to see his grandchildren.” Harry has longed to bring his family back to his homeland for many years, according to reports from News.com.au. An insider told the publication: “It’s been a real point of great sadness – for Harry especially – that he’s been unable to bring his wife and kids back to the UK safely to reconnect with friends and family, but anyone would understand his desire to put their safety first.” They continued: “He would love to introduce the children to his wider family, to show them the UK, where he grew up – his homeland. That would be a natural thing for any parent."
