Hello and welcome to the Mirror's transfer news live blog for Wednesday, June 24.
The World Cup may be well underway but clubs are busy working in the background preparing for the upcoming season. The future of Julian Alvarez has been a major topic this week, after he made it clear he wants to leave Atletico Madrid with Barcelona his dream move.
Arsenal remain in the race for the ex-Manchester City man, though a potential player-plus-cash deal involving Viktor Gyokeres has been mooted.
Elsewhere, the Gunners have made Morgan Rogers their leading target as they look to sign a new No.10 this summer. While Aston Villa have no intention to sell, the player is believed to be keen on the move.
Tottenham have made a productive start to the summer with Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson joining on a free transfer, while Jan Paul van Hecke has signed in a £52million deal from Brighton.
Alongside that, Spurs are keen to sign a new midfielder and at least one forward, with Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes targeted, while Cody Gakpo's name has popped up across the last week.

Leeds United have reached an agreement to sign Harry Wilson as a free agent, according to The Athletic.
Wilson, 29, is set to leave Fulham at the end of his contract this month and Leeds have now struck an agreement to sign him on a long-term contract with an improved salary.
The Welshman impressed for Fulham last season, registering 10 goals and providing seven assists in 36 appearances.
Chelsea value Malo Gusto at £75million and are not actively working to sell the right-back despite reaching an agreement to sign Marco Palestra, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Manchester City have expressed an interest in Gusto as they look to strengthen that position but there has been no bids or club-to-club talks so far.
Atletico Madrid have ruled out selling Julian Alvarez to Barcelona as a matter of honour, according to COPE.
The La Liga side are instead exploring a deal with Arsenal that would see the Argentina international move to north London in a player-plus-cash deal involving Viktor Gyokeres.
Atletico view the Sweden man as an ideal addition to their attack and are prioritising a Premier League deal over any negotiations with Barcelona at this stage.
Chelsea and Manchester United are monitoring Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams during the summer transfer window, according to Caught Offside.
The United States international has attracted interest after rebuilding his reputation at the Cherries, with Chelsea and United viewing him as a potential midfield option.
While Bournemouth are not actively looking to sell, a bid in the region of £30million could test their resolve.
Jude Bellingham believes that Real Madrid have made "great signings" during the summer transfer window, as they look to strengthen following a disappointing 2025/26 season.
As well as re-appointing Jose Mourinho as their new manager, Ibrahima Konate has joined on a free transfer, while Marc Cucurella has signed in a £47.5million deal and Denzel Dumfries is closing in on a £17m move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
"We have made great signings at Real Madrid," Bellingham said on Wednesday. "They have a lot of quality and experience. I'm very happy to work with them after the World Cup."
West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes has 'opened doors' to both Tottenham and Manchester United and would be open to joining either club this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Fernandes is keen to leave the Hammers following their relegation to the Championship with United and Tottenham leading the race at this stage. But West Ham are demanding more than £80million to sell the former Southampton man.
Manchester City hold an interest in signing Chelsea defender Malo Gusto, according to Ben Jacobs.
City want to add a new right-back and several targets are being explored, including Gusto, who is valued at around £45million this summer. Selling the Frenchman this summer is not discounted, espeically now Marco Palestra is set to sign from Atalanta.
Sunderland are facing a fight to keep hold of coveted forward Brian Brobbey this summer, with Tottenham and Manchester United among those interested, according to TEAMTalk.
Brobbey, who signed for the Black Cats from Ajax last summer, enjoyed an impressive first season in the Premier League and followed that up with a brace for the Netherlands against Sweden on Saturday.
As well as Spurs and United, Juventus, Stuttgart and Atletico Madrid are monitoring his progress.
Saudi Pro League side Al-Diraiyah have submitted a £17million bid for Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard, according to Belgian outlet Het Belang van Limburg.
Al-Diraiyah are looking to bolster their squad after winning promotion to Saudi's top-tier last season and Dougie Freedman, who is the club's sporting director, has identified Trossard as a top target.
It's claimed they are willing to offer Trossard a contract worth almost £9m-a-year if he indicates he is willing to move to the Middle East.
Chelsea have reached an agreement to sign Marco Palestra from Atalanta, according to Fabrizio Romano. Inter Milan had been leading the race for the talented Italian wing-back, but the Blues have hijacked the move and secured Xabi Alonso's first major signing.
Atalanta are poised to receive a total package of around £47.3million plus a sell-on clause, with Palestra set to sign a long-term contract at Stamford Bridge.
Aston Villa have NO intention of selling Morgan Rogers this summer despite growing interest from Arsenal, according to Sky Sports. The Gunners have made Rogers their top target for the No.10 position and the England midfielder is believed to be keen on the move.
But Villa are determined to keep Rogers in the West Midlands and are not encouraging offers for the ex-Middlesbrough man this summer.
Atletico Madrid are set to file a complaint against Barcelona to FIFA regarding Julian Alvarez.
Speaking after Argentina's 2-0 win over Austria on Monday, Alvarez made it clear he wants to leave Atletico this summer with Barcelona named as his dream destination. While Arsenal remain in the race, Alvarez would prefer to join Barca and he has already agreed personal terms with Hansi Flick's side.
Atletico are furious that Alvarez has been speaking to Barca and the club's chief executive officer Miguel Angel Gil has since released a strongly-worded statement.
He said: "They (Barcelona) think they can belittle us, that we are weak or stupid. But what they are really showing the world is a way of acting that defines them."
"Julian has a dream, and we Atletico fans have dreams too," he added. "It's true that he's spoken with us, but it's also true that he knows our position perfectly well because we've been very clear: Atlético doesn't want to transfer his rights. He's a great player, and we're very proud that he plays for us."
