Man facing £40,000 bill as Turkey teeth start to fall out Danny Tomlinson has had to go back to Turkey 10 times to get his crowns and implant fixed A man who flew to Turkey for dental work says his teeth are falling out and he now faces repair work that could cost up to £40,000. Danny Tomlinson, 47, was unhappy with his “crooked, brown and stained” teeth. Initially quoted £3,500 for a full set of crowns after having his natural teeth shaved down, Danny's bill rose to £3,900 after he also received a dental implant. But soon after returning home, problems started to emerge. “I didn’t do any research, I just booked it,” said Danny, a wall and floor tiler from Southend-on-Sea, Essex. “I didn’t want to watch videos or look at the aftermath – I just went on impulse." Danny flew to Turkey in December 2020 and was initially pleased with the results, saying they “looked a lot better”. He expected the results to last for five to seven years, but almost immediately, he noticed the bottom teeth were loose. Danny returned to the Turkish clinic six months later, and has since made nine return trips over the past six years as issues continued to develop. He said: “Every time I went back, the clinic didn’t really say anything. They just cleaned my teeth and let me go on my way. “Eventually, they said my bottom teeth would need replacing.” During his latest trip to Turkey, just a month ago, Danny says the clinic informed him that multiple teeth were loose and quoted him £12,500 for further work. Eight months ago, a UK dentist warned him that all of his upper crowns, along with four lower teeth, would eventually need replacing. Danny now says his teeth feel loose, he struggles to eat normally and he lives in constant fear that they could fall out altogether. He said: “If I told a UK dentist my plan to have all my teeth shaved down, they would have told me not to have it done. “I could have just had a brace and I wish that’s what I’d done. I really regret it now. I should never have done it. “My teeth move, I can feel it all the time. I can’t eat or bite anything and I have to use a knife and fork for burgers. I can’t shut my mouth properly so it’s always half open. The dentist said they won’t all fall out in five minutes but there’s a risk and the top two front teeth are in the danger zone.” Danny will need implants and has been quoted £3,000 per tooth. He said: “It’s going to cost me thousands. I’ve got to sort it one way or another but I'm not going back to Turkey. “I don’t know what to do. I can afford a few teeth but not £40,000. I'm worried sick. If my teeth fall out, that’s it. I’ll put a mask on and fly where ever I have to go to get them done.” Danny has ruled out returning to Turkey for treatment and he’s warning other Brits against going, too. He added: “Don't go to Turkey for dentist work. Do not do it. Not one dentist in England would have told me to shave my teeth down. “Don't get them shaved down when you can just get a brace. The prices are going up. I'd never recommend one person on this planet to get their teeth done in Turkey.”
