RAJKOT: The death of 23-year-old Nandani Bosmiya, whose body was found hanging in an apartment in Rajkot on June 22, has sparked allegations of foul play from her family, who claim she was murdered and have accused her live-in partner, Aslam Sama, of involvement.
According to police, Bosmiya’s body was discovered on Sunday evening at Agaman Residency, near Gondal Chowkdi.
Following the incident, Rajkot Taluka Police registered a case of accidental death under Section 194 of the BNSS and launched an investigation.
Bosmiya, a resident of Navagadh in Jetpur taluka, worked as a medical representative and had been living in Rajkot for some time.
Her family said she was in a live-in relationship with Aslam Sama, a resident of Junagadh.
Her father, Anand Bosmiya, alleged that Sama, despite being married, was living with Nandani and that the couple had frequent disputes. The family further alleged that Sama had assaulted her on several occasions.
According to relatives, an argument took place two days before the incident, following which Nandani temporarily stayed with a man she considered her brother before returning to the apartment.
On the day of her death, family members became concerned after they were unable to reach her over the phone.
An acquaintance was sent to check on her and reportedly found her hanging inside the flat.
The family has questioned the circumstances surrounding the death, saying the apartment’s main door was only latched and the rear balcony door was open. They said these details raised suspicions of foul play.
The family also alleged that Sama continued visiting his wife despite his relationship with Nandani, which they claimed was a recurring source of conflict.
Police officials said a forensic postmortem had been ordered and they were investigating all possible angles. Authorities said further legal action would depend on the postmortem findings, forensic evidence, and the outcome of the investigation.
Bosmiya was also known locally for her political involvement. In 2025, she contested the Jetpur-Navagadh municipal elections as an Aam Aadmi Party candidate.
