'Sister is naming her baby after STI because it sounds too pretty to not use' A woman has been left horrified after her sister revealed she wants to name her unborn daughter after an STI - and is insisting it would make a "pretty" baby name A woman has criticised her sister for planning to name her daughter after an STI - claiming the divisive choice would make a "pretty" baby name. The 30-year-old described how her younger sister, 27, is approximately six months pregnant with her first child and is "super excited" about impending motherhood. However, she felt compelled to voice her concerns when her sister began discussing her preferred baby names. Writing on Reddit, she said: "Everyone is super excited for her and her husband, especially because she's the first of the two of us to give my parents a grandchild. Recently she's been throwing around a lot of name ideas and she called me yesterday to tell me she thinks she has settled on something. She wants to name her child Chlamydia, but spelled Klamidia. "I honestly thought she was kidding at first for obvious reasons. That's the dumbest f*ing name idea I've ever heard. The names her and her husband had been talking about were a little unique but nothing crazy like this." Upon hearing the name, she started laughing uncontrollably, certain it must be a wind-up. But her sister's expression rapidly confirmed she was entirely genuine. She added: "I asked her to explain why she thought naming her unborn child after an STI was a good idea. "She said she'd seen posts of people saying it would be a pretty name and laughed them off for a while, but then started to think it actually could be cute. "She said since it's being spelled differently, people won't think of the STI right away and it would help get rid of the stigma around the name - and that it may even catch on." The woman warned her sister that she was condemning her daughter to a lifetime of bullying, but her worries fell on deaf ears. She said: "She told me it's her decision and that I'm being her child's first bully by making fun of the name. Apparently, her husband also agrees with this name choice. We got off the phone angry at each other." Unsure whether she'd overstepped the mark or simply voiced what everyone else was thinking, she sought guidance from Reddit. She added: "I talked to my parents and they agree that it's horrible, but they don't want to talk to her about it because they don't want to upset her. They think she'll change her mind anyway. "My parents are encouraging me to reach out and apologise because, at the end of the day, this is her decision and I shouldn't upset her while she's pregnant. "I honestly think she's being ridiculous and her name choice is cruel, but she tends to hold grudges and I don't want to not be involved in the rest of her pregnancy, so I'm starting to think maybe I could be in the wrong here. Am I the a*hole?". Reacting to the post, one user wrote: "Finally, an example where the parents should listen to someone else's input into their naming choices. Naming her Klamidia would be cruel to their child and she will hate them for it if they go through with it. They seem to be lacking common sense." Another added: "I can't wait for siblings Gonorrhoea and Syphilis to arrive." A third commented: "That's horrible. Your sister is either the biggest moron on Earth, or just evil. To be that inconsiderate of what her daughter is going to experience - or to have such a total lack of awareness - borders on negligence, to be honest."
