Police search water near sailing club after boy goes missing in lake Searches are being carried out at Meynell Lake after a teenage boy was reported to have entered the water early on Thursday afternoon Searches are being carried out at a lake in Leicestershire after a teenage boy was reported to have entered the water. Police were called to Meynell Lake in Syston, a few miles north of Leicester, shortly after 1.30pm on Thursday. Crews from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service and East Midlands Ambulance Service are also at the scene, near Syston Sailing Club on Fosse Way, Leicestershire Live reports. Three search teams have been working from boats on the lake, which is used for boating and angling A vehicle from the Leicestershire Police Federation also arrived at the scene in the evening. A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: "Emergency services are currently carrying out searches in Syston to locate a teenage boy who was reported to have entered a lake. "Police were called to Meynell Lake, in Fosse Way just after 1.30pm today (Thursday 25 June). "Officers are currently in attendance with colleagues from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service. Searches are being carried out to locate the boy and officers are in contact with his next of kin."
