Omaze millionaire gives neighbour £5k for their first ever family holiday abroad Just weeks after burying her father, the mum-of-two discovered she had become a millionaire and immediately used a part of her prize to change another family's life A woman who won £1million gifted her neighbours £5,000 so they could enjoy their first family holiday abroad. 48-year-old Honorata Jamrozik won the life-changing tax-free prize in Omaze’s Monthly Millionaire draw and decided one of the first things she wanted to do was help the family she had lived next door to for the past 14 years. The foster carer said paying for the holiday meant their children would get the chance to travel overseas together for the very first time. But the life-changing win came at an emotional time for Honorata. Just two weeks earlier she had buried her father after travelling to Poland for his funeral, and she said she believed the prize had been “a gift from dad”. Honorata, from Dartford, Kent, said: “It’s a life-changing prize for us, but also for our friends and family, now we can help make life easier for our loved ones and that is the best feeling in the world. “Good neighbours are one of life’s true blessings, they have been wonderful since the day we moved in and feel like family to us. “Being able to give them money for a holiday so they can make some magical memories together makes me so happy - helping the people we love is what this win is all about for us.” Still grieving the loss of her father, the mum-of-two said she was convinced he had somehow played a part in her family’s extraordinary stroke of luck. She added: “My father was an amazing man, it’s been very hard saying goodbye, he will be so missed - my mum and dad were married for 50 years. “He’ll always be the angel sitting on my shoulder, and I know it was him who sent this gift to me.” Before her win, Honorata had spent seven years working as a foster carer before putting the role on hold so she could care for her elderly parents in Poland, travelling regularly between the two countries. She said the prize meant she could now return to the job she loved most - helping children who needed a better start in life. She added: “I just wanted to change the lives of kids who haven’t had an easy start in life. I’m blessed that I was able to help children of all ages find a better future. I absolutely love fostering - and this win means I can carry on doing what I love. Winning just makes everything so much easier.” Honorata landed the £1million prize through her £15 monthly Omaze subscription. Her husband of almost 20 years, Dino, 48, who works in IT, had no idea she had been entering the draw. Having never won anything before, he had always joked she had more chance of being struck by lightning than becoming a millionaire. Honorata said: “My husband always joked I had more chance of being struck by lightning than winning a million pounds, but now I have, I guess I better be extra careful next time there’s a storm outside.” She had been cooking a curry while waiting for her 15-year-old daughter and 14-year-old son to return home from school when Omaze arrived to reveal the surprise. She added: “It was just an ordinary day when Omaze called to say I’d won something, I didn’t even bother to get changed as I never imagined it would be something so huge. When I saw it was a million pounds I just screamed. I’ll never forget that moment for as long as I live.” As well as treating their neighbours to a dream getaway, Honorata and Dino planned to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary this October with a once-in-a-lifetime family holiday. They also planned to take Honorata’s mother with them after everything the family had been through in recent weeks. Honorata said: “We can afford to do something really special for our 20th anniversary now - go on a big family holiday somewhere lovely, I’ve already started planning! “We will take my mother as she deserves a break more than anyone, I’m so happy we can enjoy this win together.” The Omaze Monthly Millionaire Draw guarantees one UK winner a tax-free £1million every month. Since launching in 2020, the company said it had raised more than £140million for charity partners across the UK. Matt Pohlson, CEO and Founder of Omaze, said: “To win £1 million just weeks after losing her father, and for her very first act to be sending her neighbours on a dream holiday, tells you everything about Honorata. “It’s fantastic that she’s able to help the people around her in a way she never imagined before, as well as return to the fostering work that means so much to her. Everyone at Omaze is absolutely thrilled for her.”
