Over half of Brits have never visited Buckingham Palace or other iconic UK attractions A survey has shown the number of British adults who have never visited some of the UK's most famous family attractions, including Buckingham Palace and the Tower of London - and it's a lot More than half of British adults have never stepped inside Buckingham Palace, new research has disclosed. Figures were gathered to establish which iconic UK family attractions people have never experienced. It comes as the Great British Summer Savings Scheme launches, running from today (Friday, June 25) until September 1 to align with the school summer holidays. The government scheme will see people across the UK pay less tax on meals and days out as fresh VAT cuts make family outings more affordable. Businesses that have already enrolled in the scheme, and have pledged to pass on savings to customers, include Butlin's, Burger King, Wetherspoons and Picturehouse Cinemas. To mark the launch, taxi and private hire firm Veezu has published a survey revealing how many Brits have (or rather haven't) visited certain famous destinations, reports the Express. The findings show that just 41% of British adults have visited Buckingham Palace while 49% have never been to the Tower of London, two of the capital's most renowned tourist attractions. Furthermore, 44% have never made a trip to theme park Alton Towers, only a third of the nation's adults have been to Stonehenge, 31% have never been to Windsor Castle and 28% have never visited LEGOLAND. Other notable sites on the list include London Zoo (37%), the London Eye (41%), Edinburgh Castle (33%), Blackpool Tower (44%) and Big Ben and Houses of Parliament (41%). Veezu spokesperson Sally Krouma commented: "Looking at the data, many Brits admit there are so many of the UK's attractions they have yet to visit. As the Great British Summer Savings Scheme launches it could be the perfect time for families to check out what's on their doorstep or further afield. "Whether it's a day trip to somewhere new across the country or a long weekend to unwind and relax, getting around safely and reliably can make all the difference. As the UK's fastest growing taxi and private hire company, Veezu is here to help to ensure people experience the very best of what the UK has to offer." The Great British Summer Savings Scheme will see VAT slashed from 20% to 5% on numerous tickets for youngsters and families. Children's meals in restaurants will have their costs cut, alongside children's and family tickets for visits to the cinema, theatre, concerts, performances and exhibitions. Entry tickets, for both children and adults, to a variety of attractions also come under the scheme. This includes amusement parks, fairs, museums, zoos, soft play centres, circuses, adventure parks, nature reserves, wildlife parks and observation attractions. The government will shortly be rolling out the Great British Summer Savings deal finder, a digital tool helping families find summer offers from local businesses in their vicinity.
