St Helens have denied claims made by Wakefield Trinity that the Saints had rejected an offer for centre Harry Robertson, and have reported the matter to the RFL's Compliance Department.
Earlier this week, Wakefield head coach Daryl Powell said he was an admirer of Robertson before insisting it was "true" that the Saints had declined a bid for the 20-year-old.
Robertson is contracted to St Helens until the end of the 2028 season, but in a strongly-worded statement released on Friday, the Saints hit back, insisting they would not consider any offers for Robertson.

"Contrary to public statements made by Wakefield Trinity in relation to Harry Robertson, a player contracted long-term to St Helens, the club has received no contact or communication whatsoever from Wakefield Trinity. Nor would we entertain any," a St Helens spokesperson said.
"We have reported this matter to the RFL's Compliance Department for their review and, if merited, appropriate action should be taken."
Robertson enjoyed a breakout year in 2025, which was his first full-time season for the Saints. He was crowned their Young Player of the Year for that season, after the centre scored 16 tries and teed up a further seven.
He was named in Brian McDermott's 38-man England training squad last week following a promising start to the 2026 season, and as such, Powell, who is in the market for a new outside back, said his club had identified Robertson as a target.
When asked for an explanation on the rebuffed offer, Powell said: "There's nothing to clear up, it's true.
"We made an offer, and the Saints declined it. That's up to them. We really like him; we think he's a high-quality player.
"Outside back [is the priority], we're pretty flexible. Pratty [Oliver Pratt] is a really good winger, and he's potentially a centre, so we've been looking outside back, centre, wing as an option for next year.
"We're still on the lookout, we're keen on Harry, but we'll see what happens."
The Saints will be hoping to move above Wakefield in the Super League standings with a victory against Bradford on Saturday evening, live on Sky Sports+ from 8pm.
Paul Rowley's side are currently level on points with Trinity but trail them in sixth place on points difference.
Wakefield, meanwhile, face bottom-side Huddersfield Giants on Sunday, live on Sky Sports+ from 3pm.
