Trump bashes ‘Milk Toast’ Fox News host as he admits ICE is not ‘NICE’ President seemingly forgets how to spell ‘milquetoast’ as he grouses about comparisons to his predecessor’s deportation stats - Bookmark - CommentsGo to comments President Donald Trump on Friday turned an attempt at an insult against a journalist into an embarrassing spelling mistake as he touted his administration’s latest immigration arrest statistics on social media. Writing on Truth Social, he claimed his administration has the “highest average daily arrest rate” by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection agents compared with all previous administrations “by far.” He also alleged that he has the “highest 12-month removal total, by far, of any president” as well as what he called “Average Daily Catch and Repatriation.” “No other president comes close,” he said. “So, when you hear these Anchors, Pundits, Dumocrats, and Communists, try to make the case that President Obama’s numbers are comparable to President Trump, it would be nice if people like ‘Milk Toast’ Shannon Bream, and others, would put up a little fight — Just a little.” The president’s broadside against Bream, an attorney who hosts the weekly Fox News Sunday public affairs program and serves as the network’s chief legal correspondent, seemed to indicate that he wanted to describe her as “milquetoast.” which the Mirriam-Webster dictionary defines as “a timid, meek, or unassertive person” or “someone who is easily intimidated, lacks a strong backbone, or avoids conflict at all costs.” Trump, who routinely describes his political opponents as “dumb,” instead mistakenly used the homonym “Milk Toast,” which refers to a bland snack of toasted bread served in warm milk — something often given to children and people with weak stomachs during the 19th century. Trump has long bristled at comparisons between his attempts at arresting and deporting mostly non-white immigrants from the United States and the strict immigration enforcement carried out under the Obama administration. That’s because Obama, who immigration rights advocates routinely derided as “deporter-in-chief,” oversaw the removal of roughly three million people from the United States during his eight years in power. By contrast, Trump’s first term only saw less than half that — 1.2 million people — deported during the four years he was in the White House.
