England's round of 32 opponents and every World Cup knockout game as things stand England have now qualified for the round of 32 before even playing their final group stage game against Panama, but they are not yet guaranteed first or second spot in Group L England are now assured a place in the World Cup round of 32 after guaranteeing at least one of the eight third-placed qualification spots. Spain's win over Uruguay secured the Three Lions' spot in the next round, while further reducing Scotland's slim chances of joining them there. That confirmation comes ahead of Thomas Tuchel's side facing Panama in their final group stage game on Saturday evening (10pm UK time). They sit top of Group L on four points after beating Croatia before drawing 0-0 with Ghana. However, they are not certain of finishing first or even second. Group positioning will be decided once both remaining matches conclude. To stay top, England need to match Ghana's result and ensure that the Black Stars' margin of victory is no more than two goals wider than theirs against Panama. However, if Croatia wins or it is a draw, England just have to match that result. Panama have lost both of their first two matches, albeit by only one goal. Outside of England's opening six-goal thriller, there have been just two goals across the three other games. Tuchel's team will hope they return to their free-scoring ways to take Ghana out of the equation. Panama, however, have shown they will be no pushovers. Neither will their round of 32 opponents, who are Senegal as it stands. Winning the group would send them to Atlanta, whereas dropping to second would currently see them face Portugal in Toronto. They are at least ensured of a trip to Kansas City, where they are in line to play Colombia. England will find out for sure after the end of Saturday's games, which will conclude in the early hours of Sunday morning BST. Several sides already know who they are up against in the knockout stages. Co-hosts Canada will kick off the round of 32 against South Africa in Los Angeles. Next up are Brazil, who face Japan, while fellow South American nation Paraguay have to play Germany. The Netherlands are another European side through, with Morocco their opponents, and Africa versus Europe continues with the Ivory Coast taking on Norway. France against Sweden is currently the only confirmed meeting between two teams in the same confederation. Mexico, though, are in line to face a team they will be familiar with from their outings in the Copa America, as they will play Ecuador as it stands. Belgium are currently due to face Belgium, while co-hosts the United States know that Bosnia and Herzegovina are up next for them. Austria versus Spain could be another all-European affair if the former stay second. Ghana against Portugal is another tie pencilled in, although neither are assured of playing that tie in Toronto. Australia face Egypt for a place in the round of 16, while world champions Argentina take on Cape Verde.
