President Donald Trump has posted a painting on Truth Social that brings together classic all-American imagery - with an unusual twist.
The artwork shows George Washington and Trump either side of a collage of patriotic scenes, from the signing of the Declaration of Independence to the Moon landing. Other iconic imagery includes a pioneer’s wagon, the Statue of Liberty and Mount Rushmore.
But less traditionally, in the center of the piece, a man who appears to be Washington and a boy sit down to watch a firework display in the company of a humanoid robot.
The identity of the artist responsible was not given by the president, but his caption on the post read: “Great painting!! President DJT”.
On X, a fan account entitled MAGA Voice hailed the work as “EPIC” and added: “Liberals can’t stand all of this winning.”
Many commentators relished the idea that the painting might upset Democrats while several suggested it should be hung in the Oval Office immediately.
Less positive responses likened it to North Korean propaganda, while another edited the picture to replace the current president with John F Kennedy.
The painting was not the only eyebrow-raising artwork to appear on Trump’s page over the weekend. He also posted an AI image of himself as Atlas holding up the Earth and a picture of a grinning Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris wearing red MAGA-style caps with the slogan: “I Lost to Trump.”
The president has long enjoyed fan art and regularly recirculates flattering tributes on his platform, causing an uproar earlier this year when he posted an AI meme of himself as Jesus Christ healing a sick man.
Earlier this year, he posted another picture of himself conducting a symphony orchestra – complete with members of his cabinet and the late Charlie Kirk taking up the instruments – by the Utah artist Jon McNaughton, who became a social media phenomenon during his first term.
McNaughton is known for his eccentric, America First spins on U.S. iconography, casting Trump as Washington crossing a stagnant swamp, in place of the Delaware river, in one typical example.
The president’s latest offering comes amid the country’s 250th anniversary celebrations, which has already seen Trump host a UFC fight on the White House Lawn and open a “Great American State Fair” on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
