Chinese asset managers are reviewing their bond holdings to identify issuers at risk of rating downgrades after regulators stepped up efforts to curb the over-concentration of AAA ratings, according to people familiar with the matter.
About a dozen institutions, including mutual funds and banks, are independently assessing if their holdings are vulnerable to rating downgrades or withdrawals in the near term, said the people, who asked not to be identified as the matter is private. Some may consider reducing their exposure in such an event after conducting their own analysis, the people said.
