Should Harry and Meghan bring their children to the UK? Take our poll and have your say The Duke of Sussex’s request for police protection when he comes to the UK has reportedly been denied, leaving his plans to bring his wife and children to his home country now up in the air Prince Harry is just weeks away from heading to the UK, as he is expected to travel to Birmingham in mid-July to mark the one year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games. The Duke of Sussex, who is the founder of Invictus, was expected to bring his wife Meghan Markle and their children, Archie and Lilibet, with him to his home country, but their travel plans have now been thrown into disarray. When Harry has visited Britain in the last few years for various events and appearances, he has had to put in an official request for police protection, which is largely funded by the taxpayer. However, it has been believed that this request has been denied for the upcoming trip. Harry is also reportedly still waiting for an outcome on his appeal to the Home Office to reinstate his police protection when he visits his home country. The Mirror reported earlier this week that Harry had become " increasingly frustrated " that a review into his request for taxpayer-funded security was taking more than six months. Sources have claimed the prince has been left distraught by the security rejection, which has come just a few days before they were due to jet out. The prince, who quit his royal duties in 2020 and relocated to California, has previously said that he feels it is "not safe" to bring his wife and kids to the UK, but was understood to have changed his mind this time while accepting an offer to stay at a royal residence, believed to be Buckingham Palace, according to reports. If Harry does bring Meghan and his children to his home country, it will be their first family visit to the UK in four years. Archie and Lilibet were last in Britain in June 2022 to mark the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, with Meghan making her final trip just months later for the Queen’s funeral in September. A source, according to The Times, claimed Harry "just wants his kids to see their grandfather" King Charles, but is reconsidering whether it is safe to bring the five and seven-year-old. Harry has longed to bring his family back to his homeland for many years, according to reports from News.com.au. An insider told the publication: “It’s been a real point of great sadness – for Harry especially – that he’s been unable to bring his wife and kids back to the UK safely to reconnect with friends and family, but anyone would understand his desire to put their safety first.” They continued: “He would love to introduce the children to his wider family, to show them the UK, where he grew up – his homeland. That would be a natural thing for any parent." While it has yet to be confirmed if the children will be coming to the UK, sources have claimed that Harry wishes to take Archie and Lilibet to the grave of his late mother, Princess Diana, at Althorp House. The Sussexes will likely be in the UK in the days after what would’ve been Diana’s 65th birthday, with Harry reportedly wanting to share his mother’s story with his young children, as well as to introduce them to the Spencer side of the family. If Archie and Lilibet do come to the UK with their parents in July, it is unlikely they will be seen out in public. In recent years, Harry and Meghan have made every effort to conceal their children's faces, especially online, to protect their privacy.
