Wimbledon regular could be tennis tournament's biggest superfan after 34 years in a row camping for tickets Red Lion Inn owner Harry Taylor, 52, has pitched his tent outside the Wimbledon ever year since 1992 and has not been put off by this year's scorching heatwave A Wimbledon regular could be the tennis tournament's biggest superfan, having camped out for tickets for 34 years in a row. Harry Taylor, 52, has pitched his tent outside the tennis tournament every year since 1992 and says he has made lifelong friends through the experience. The dedicated fan, who owns the Red Lion In in Bridge, Kent, has never been deterred from attending - and is now more prepared than ever. Armed with a £300 heat-reflective tent, a 100-watt solar panel to charge devices and a pair of video display glasses to allow him to watch the World Cup and other Wimbledon matches to pass the time, he's ready to wait as long as it takes. This year, Harry wasn't put off by the heatwave and joined the queue on Saturday morning at around 9.00am - 48 hours before Wimbledon Day One - and was number 28 in line. Speaking yesterday Harry said: "I reckon there's 1,500 people currently. I was number 28 in the queue but between yesterday evening and today it's covered with people. This evening it's going to be rammed - 200 people are coming in every hour. The All England Club do an excellent job and every year the queue improves drastically." The tournament’s organisers are now used to having thousands of campers every year and have begun providing them with loos that are “better than Glastonbury toilets.” The queue has also added numbered cards so people can’t jump the line, with stewards checking the tents, phone chargers, and food stalls set up to feed them. Harry has kitted himself out with some high-tech gear to make the wait as smooth as possible. He said: "I've got a bigger 100 watt solar panel to charge all our devices - we're here for 12 or 13 days. "And because of the World Cup I've got a projector screen which is equipped into my sunglasses - it's like sitting in a cinema screen. I've also got a new reflective tent. It's 30 plus degrees but in the tent it's cool. It's more than a normal tent but it's worth every penny." The queuers have become quite a community, with Harry saying that he has met some of his best friends in the queue and that they all have a group chat to discuss the games. On why he loves the tournament so much, Harry said previously: "There are loads of tennis tournaments in the world, but Wimbledon is the greatest " If you don’t win Wimbledon, then you are nobody. It is the greatest tournament; you just have to go. Everyone is excited, the players are excited, we in the queue are excited. "It is incredible. The experience is hard to describe but it is one of the few places in the world where you can come and enjoy a tennis match for not too expensive a price, so anyone can come." As for who he wants to win this year, Harry is backing Jannik Sinner with his favourite Carlos Alcaraz set to miss the tournament through injury. He said: "There's only two people in it - Sinner and Djokovic, but I'll have to go for Sinner as they are on the same side of the draw."
