Horror multi-vehicle pile-up on busy highway leads to fireball explosion One of the HGV vehicles was carrying 'eight tonnes of butane cans' when it was hit in the mass pile-up, resulting in an enormous explosion - one driver remains unaccounted for A driver is unaccounted for and six people have been injured after a seven lorry pile-up ended in a massive explosion. Two lorries collided on the Hume Highway in Australia, near a town called Breadalbane in New South Wales [NSW], just after 5am local time on Tuesday, June 30. Those two HGVs then ploughed into five others at a roadside rest stop, triggering the enormous explosion. The contents of each lorry equated to the perfect storm for a huge blast and subsequent fire, with a NSW Fire and Rescue spokesman said one of the trucks was carrying 'eight tonnes of butane cans'. "Another was transporting resin, a third contained memory foam, and a fourth was packed with alcohol, fuelling the resulting fire and explosions," the spokesman said. This is a developing story. More to come.
