A UK packaging company, seen on shelves at major supermarkets, has plunged into liquidation with 'debts'.
Affinity Packaging Ltd were appointed liquidators on June 17 according to The Gazette.
The company specialised in 'creating innovative and eco-friendly packaging solutions for businesses of all size; from local enterprises to multinational businesses', according to its website.
The business worked with several brands including popular sweet company Swizzels.
They first produced the ‘Refreshers Original’ carton for Swizzels in 2007, and labels them 'one of our most valued and significant customers'.
The brand is stocked across major UK supermarkets including Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsbury's.
Dominik Thiel-Czerwinke and Louise Donna Baxter of BTG Begbies Traynor were appointed joint liquidators of the Lancashire based company by the court.
The Appointment of Liquidators statement says: "Notice is also hereby given that creditors of the Company who have not yet proved their debts, should submit their proof of debt to the joint liquidators at their correspondence address."
In 2025, the business entered a Company's Voluntary Arrangement. However, the winding up of the company comes after this agreement was breached.
The notice of termination or full implementation of voluntary arrangement reads: "The Company has failed to comply with the terms of the Company's Voluntary Arrangement, which has resulted in three notice of breaches being issued each on separate occasions.
"A breach was issued to the Directors on 4 March 2026 for failure to make payments to HM Revenue &Customs when due.
"The Company failed to remedy the breach within the prescribed 30 days and solicitors were instructed to present a petition for the winding up of the Company.
"The petition was filed on 30 April 2026."
At the commencement of the arrangement the document notes that the total amount owed to creditors was £2,465,901.
