Brand new weight-loss pill so powerful I forgot to eat and lost 2lbs a week Sharon Vickers was among the first people in the world to use the new alternative to jabs A woman who was among the first in the world to take the new weight-loss pill from Wegovy says it eliminated her hunger to the point she forgot to eat. Sharon Vickers, 46, struggled with her weight for years and underwent gastric sleeve surgery in January 2025, losing 73lbs before her progress stalled. After deciding GLP-1 injections were too expensive and she didn't want to self-inject, she was among the first to try the new Wegovy pill. She paid for a 30-day supply and began losing weight again. After taking 1.5mg before increasing to 4mg in April, Sharon said the pill suppressed her appetite so much she often forgot to eat. On May 17, 2026, Sharon started weaning herself off the pills after reaching her goal weight of 175lbs and on May 27, she stopped taking the pills altogether. The US was the first to launch the pill version in January 2026, with UAE following in June and it was approved by UK officials this month. Sharon said: "It did suppress my appetite significantly though, and I was losing about 2lbs a week. Around day 10, I noticed I wasn’t eating much at all and was getting full way too quickly - and honestly, that wasn’t what I wanted. "I never wanted this pill to stop me from eating completely. I wanted it to help with food noise and portion control, not eliminate hunger. So I started alternating - one day on, one day off - until I hit my goal weight of 175 lbs on May 17. From there I began weaning off, and as of May 27, I’ve been completely off the pill." After undergoing a gastric sleeve surgery in January 2025, Sharon, who was then 263lbs, lost 73lbs but said she stalled. No matter what she did, Sharon said that she stopped being able to lose weight and would hover between 188lbs and 192lbs. "Unfortunately, there was only so much weight I could lose - I hit a stall," Sharon said. "In September, I started looking at injections for GLP-1, but they were extremely expensive." Sharon said: "The cost of weight loss jabs was just too expensive for me. Even the thought of injecting myself, I don't think I could have. Primarily, it was the cost factor that stopped me from buying them." Before starting the Wegovy pill, Sharon weighed 188lbs and has slimmed down to 175lbs. She initially started taking 1.5mg before moving to 4mg in April after noticing the smaller dosage stopped working. "I feel fabulous - like a completely different woman," Sharon said. "I’ve run two half marathons, and PR’d my last one by 10 minutes. I can confidently say I am proud of who I am and how far I’ve come. Things I once only dreamed of are now just part of my life." Sharon hit her goal weight on May 17, 2026, and started to wean herself off the pills. And since May 27, Sharon has been off the pill completely and is now working on maintaining her weight loss. Sharon said: "I’m now in maintenance mode and trying to do this without a GLP-1, which hasn’t been easy. The cravings and temptations are loud. But I’m still working out six days a week with an incredible coach, and I know I can always return to the Wegovy pill if I need to. "Only time will tell."
