Incredible new pictures have captured the Strawberry Moon as it dropped to the lowest point of its arc through the night's sky - creating breath taking images around the world
A rare lunar aspect lit up the skies across the UK this week in a stunning display dubbed the Strawberry Moon, with Brits capturing the celestial body as it hung at its lowest point.
A phenomenon first named by Native American tribes, the Strawberry Moon is the first Full Moon of the summer and usually occurs between June 29 and 30. It is an especially spectacular astronomical sight, and different from every other moon aspect as the Moon is at the time tracing the lowest section of its route through our skies.
The especially low-hanging nature of the Moon at this point makes it appear much larger than usual, and given it lands in summer, there are often clear skies through which people can enjoy the display.

The Moon at this aspect is viewable around the world, and Brits were among those taking advantage of the opportunity when it came into full fruition on Monday. Stunning photos show the Moon in its full majesty absorbing the Shard, St Paul's cathedral, and elsewhere ballooning to eclipse the entire Parthenon in Greece.
In some cases, while also appearing much larger, the Moon appeared to change colour, seeming red or even orange under the influence of specific atmospheric conditions.
