Emergency services swarm as light aircraft crashes in an Essex field Emergency crews and a team of experts from the Air Accidents Investigation Branch have been despatched to the site of a reported light aircraft crash in a field in near the Essex village of High Ongar Police and air crash investigators have been scrambled to the scene of a plane crash in Essex this afternoon. A field near the village of High Ongar in Essex has reportedly been cordoned off, with emergency services on the scene. Police ambulance and fire crews have been dispatched to the scene following reports of the incident, said to have taken place at around 1.30pm today. The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) has released a statement saying it has deployed a team of experts to an “accident involving a light aircraft”. Meanwhile Essex Police confirmed they had officers at the scene. The force will be making public further details about the incident in the next hour, a spokesperson told the Mirror. A statement from the AAIB said: “An accident in Ongar, Essex involving a light aircraft which occurred today (30 June) has been notified to the Air Accidents Investigation Branch. An investigation has been launched and a team of inspectors are on their way to the accident site." The small village of High Ongar is eight miles to the west of Chelmsford, close to Chipping Ongar. It lies close to the A414, a main road that provides a direct link between Chelmsford and Harlow. The Mirror has reached out to the AAIB and the East of England Ambulance Service for a comment.
