APS Holding is preparing to step up purchases of distressed debt as it sees higher interest rates and real estate stress starting to dent bank balance sheets.
The Czech firm, a large buyer of non-performing loans in central and eastern Europe, is monitoring 42 portfolios for potential purchase with a face value of €3.3 billion ($3.8 billion), Chief Executive Officer and founder Martin Machon said in an interview with Bloomberg News. About 10 of these deals could close over the summer, he said.
