'I found a secret stash of salt and Nando's sauce in my son's school bag' Alice says she doesn't think it is the first time her son has done it A mum was stunned to discover her missing Nando's sauce and pink Himalayan salt in her son's rucksack when she sent to recover her 12-year-old's PE kit. Alice Hempsey was getting her 12-year-old son Carter Palmer's kit out of his school bag when she made the bizarre discovery. Footage shows the mum-of-one rummaging through Carter's backpack and spotting the large 500g glass bottle of Nando's Peri-Peri sauce and her pink Himalayan salt that had gone missing from the kitchen. And after talking to her son, the 30-year-old found out that he had taken the condiments into school to spice-up his school dinner as he says the chicken and chips are 'bland'. Alice claims Carter says this is the first time he has pulled this stunt but she wouldn't be surprised if her son had done this before. Finding her discovery funny, the community nurse then shared a video of it to social media and other users were quick to praise Carter for his 'ingenious' idea. Alice says the year 7 pupil is obsessed with spicy sauces and covers all of his dinners in them. She is now going to buy some small containers for her son to transport his sauces, to stop him having to lug around the large Nando's glass jar in his school bag. Alice, from Sheffield in South Yorkshire, said: "I just found it really funny. I had gone into his school bag to take out his PE kit and noticed his bag was quite heavy. I then noticed the Nando's sauce and the salt, I couldn't find earlier for my dinner, in his bag. "He took it into school. He says the chips aren't great so he took them in to season them a bit. He said he shared it with some of his friends too. "I just found it hilarious as it was the massive bottle and the thought of him taking this out of his bag at dinner time in the canteen [made me laugh]. He says the chips are a bit bland and he says the same about the chicken, but he does like spicy food. "He said it's the first time he did this but I normally work on a Friday but I was off this day. He normally sorts out his bag by the time I get home but I beat him to it this time. "I think it's something he'll do again. I'm thinking of getting him some little containers to put it in rather than taking the big glass bottle in. He's obsessed with spicy sauces and has it on everything. He puts it all over his dinners and we go through it so quickly." After sharing the video on social media, the post has racked up more than 240,000 views and 22,000 likes. Alice said: "Everyone found the video really funny and there were lots of comments about school dinners. "They don't do salt and stuff at a lot of schools so the meals can be quite bland. There were quite a few people laughing about it and said they'd do the same thing. He says that school dinners can just be quite bland but I suppose they're meant to be quite healthy." Users were also quick to comment on Carter's stunt and others agreed with him about the taste of school dinners. One user said: "Imagine the teachers hearing the glass and searching his bag thinking he has alcohol and they just find seasoning." Another added: "Listen, the kid needs flavouring. Actually, pretty ingenious. I hope he was charging others for a bit of pizzazz on their food." A third said: "Smart kid. I'm a teacher and school dinners are terrible. I have salt and mayo in my desk drawer for the days I'm desperate enough to eat the school dinner. You should see the shock on the kids' faces when they ask, 'sir how are you eating that? It's disgusting.' and I show them the stash." A fourth commented: "My 14-year-old would agree. If we go anywhere, they have the mini salt sachets she grabs a handful to keep in her blazer lol."
