Primark warns of 'serious chemical risk' as popular item recalled — 'stop using' The product can be dangerous to health Primark has issued an urgent product recall notice due to a "serious chemical risk". The high street store warned anyone with the item to stop using it "immediately". A colour block purse poses a risk to the public as it contains excessive concentrations of phthalates. The chemical is dangerous to health and can even cause damage to the reproductive system. The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) said: "The product presents a serious chemical risk as it contains excessive concentrations of Dibutyl phthalate (DBP), Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), and Short Chain Chlorinated Paraffins (SCCPs). "Phthalates are harmful to health and may cause damage to the reproductive system. The product does not meet the requirements of the REACH Regulations 2008." As a result, Primark has recalled the purse from customers. The budget fashion chain said: "We recommend that consumers stop using the product immediately and keep it out of reach of children. "Return the product to any Primark store for a full refund. For further information, please contact Primark via the live chat." The affected item is described as a coin purse in shades of brown. It has the model number 3103002 and barcode number 991169270. Primark isn't the only major UK store to issue recall notices recently. Morrisons and Lidl have pulled items from its shelves due to risks to customers. It recalled Maple & Bacon Back of the Net sharing snack as some packs may contain undeclared milk not listed on the label. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) warned that this could pose a significant health risk to anyone suffering from a milk allergy or intolerance. The recall is for a 140g pack with best before date August 22, 2026. A customer notice from Morrisons said: "Please do not eat this product and return it to your nearest store for a full refund. We don't need a receipt. "No other products are affected by this issue. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and assure customers of our continuing commitment to the highest standard of product quality and safety." Meanwhile, anyone with Ferrero's Frozen Nutella Croissants has been urged not to eat them and to take them back to the store for a full refund. It followed concerns that the product may contain metal fragments. The treat was available in UK Lidl stores prior to the recall. It has since been pulled from shelves in Belgium, Germany, Italy, Spain, Hungary, and Romania for the very same reason. The four-packs have batch codes L126Z39 and L127Z39, with best before dates of May 6 and May 7, 2027.
