Brazilian railway operator VLI SA is starting a new export route for soybean meal, addressing key bottlenecks as the country attempts to boost shipments of the animal feed ingredient.
VLI is kicking off a plan to move soymeal year-round via railway to the port of Itaqui, in the state of Maranhão, Chief Commercial Officer Carolina Hernandez Tascon said in an interview. Shipments that used to be sporadic will become more constant at the northern port, creating an alternative to crowded facilities in the south.
