Firefighters' union loses Supreme Court bid to keep corruption probe secret Fri 3 Jul 2026 at 11:18am The firefighters' union has lost a Supreme Court bid to keep secret a corruption probe into its dealings with the government of former Victorian premier Daniel Andrews. Operation Richmond investigated allegations of corrupt conduct during the enterprise bargaining agreement dispute between the union, the Country Fire Authority and Victorian government in 2016. The investigation was launched in 2018 and was wrapped up in 2022. But the public release of the report has been delayed until the Supreme Court case between the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission (IBAC) and the union resolves. The anti-corruption watchdog's probe is understood to have included interviews with Mr Andrews and senior ministers, however witnesses are unable to confirm or deny if they have been spoken to under IBAC's laws. This morning Justice Claire Harris dismissed the union and its secretary Peter Marshall's arguments for a judicial review. The court will return later this afternoon.
