UK haulage firm plunges into liquidation in yet another blow to transport industry JKM Transport Solutions Ltd, a family-run haulage and freight company based in West Lothian, Scotland, has entered liquidation A family-run UK haulage and freight firm has collapsed into liquidation in yet another significant blow to the UK transport industry following conflicts in the Middle East. JKM Transport Solutions Ltd appointed administrators on June 29, with the news published in the Edinburgh Gazette in the early hours of July 3. George Lafferty, of BTG Begbies Traynor (Central) LLP, has been named as the liquidator overseeing the company. Companies House confirms the business has filed for insolvency, with a winding-up order commencing on 29th June. At this early stage, there is no information regarding potential job losses. JKM describes itself as a small family-run haulage contractor located in West Lothian, Scotland. The business was incorporated in August 2021, meaning it was approaching five years of trading. JKM Transport Solutions stated that the company handled everything from long-distance hauls to local store deliveries, reports the Express. The firm said that since its inception, it had built strong and dependable relationships with its customers, establishing a reputation for reliability and punctuality. JKM Transport Solutions also noted that it operated its fleet around the clock, with its trucks on the road at all hours to meet the demands of the haulage industry. The development marks yet another significant setback for the country's haulage and freight industries, which have already endured a string of challenges throughout the year. Numerous companies have collapsed into administration and liquidation during what has proven to be a difficult spell for the sector. K2B Transportation Limited, a family-owned operation in the East Midlands, officially entered liquidation back in June. This followed shortly after Sunhill Transport Limited, a Shropshire-based freight firm, brought in administrators during May. HGV training company ELI Group, which provided training courses and lorry assessments, also went into liquidation in May. The Road Haulage Association had previously cautioned that insolvency rates could "rise" as the Middle East conflict's impact placed additional strain on companies. The organisation highlighted that hundreds of businesses had already encountered difficulties, with further casualties anticipated throughout 2026. RHA External Affairs Director David Boot previously said: "While insolvency rates have slowed slightly, they remain far too high and well above pre-pandemic levels. The numbers tell a sobering story: nearly 400 hauliers went out of business last year, 470 the year before, and over 500 in 2023." The Mirror has approached JKM Transport Solutions Ltd for comment.
