Killer gouged out own eyes and part of tongue claimed to be 'divine being' Robert Brandon Keller, 32, was high on drugs when he took advantage of good samaritan Bruce William Dupree by killing him and leaving him for dead before jacking his car A depraved killer who claimed to be a "divine being" gouged out his own eyes as well as part of his tongue in a failed attempt to end up in a medical facility has been found guilty of murder. Robert Brandon Keller, 32, was found guilty of killing Bruce William Dupree, 43, during a car jacking in October 2024. "I am a divine being," Keller declared in the courtroom. "I am here by special presentation and appearance of the entity known as Robert Brandon Lewis Keller. I would like the ability to be trusted, to tell the truth, but this is not the setting I trust to do so." Keller gouged his own eyes out following his arrest, but The Georgia Virtue reports he told jailers he wounded himself in a bid to "cover his a**" and with the hope of being placed in a medical prison. He was sentenced to life in prison on Thursday, July 2. Keller attacked Dupree when he was under the influence of drugs and slashed his throat before dragging Dupree's body onto a grassy area near Interstate 16 in Bulloch County, Georgia, then leaving him to die. A concerned driver later found Dupree yelling for help at the side of the road and alerted police. Tragically, Dupree succumbed to his injuries. Officers soon tracked down Keller and arrested him at the Patriot Inn, in Register, Georgia. Judge Matthew Hube was damning, saying Keller "represented the worst of us" and added "he took advantage of someone who was trying to help, and left a trail of wreckage in his wake." Keller was later sentenced to two consecutive life sentence and an additional 25 years. Acting Bulloch County District Attorney Jillian Gibson told Judge Hube: "To be able to protect our community from a very dangerous individual, so we are very grateful for that. Dupree's niece, Mandy Moore, told the court: "Bruce is gone and won’t come back, and nothing can fix that, nothing can fill that void. The justice system prevailed; no other family will go through what we went through at the hands of this man."
