Kate's emotional reunion with her family as she thanks supporters who rallied behind cancer fundraiser The Princess of Wales shared a 'huge thank you' for people who supported The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity after she completed the National Three Peaks Challenge last week Princess Kate has posted adorable new snaps showing her emotional reunion with her family following a mammoth hiking challenge last week. Posting on Instagram, the royal shared photos capturing the moment she completed the National Three Peaks Challenge, in aid of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. Princess Kate, 44, scaled Ben Nevis, the highest peak in Scotland; Scafell Pike, the highest in England; and Snowdon the highest in Wales, within 24 hours to raise money for the hospital where she was treated. She was diagnosed with cancer in March 2024 and underwent chemotherapy at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Chelsea, West London. She said after finishing the challenge at the summit of Snowdon, known as Yr Wyddfa: "Together, we can stand alongside everyone navigating life with cancer, ensuring no one faces this disease feeling unseen or unsupported." "Cancer doesn't just affect the body. It changes how you think and feel and profoundly affects every aspect of life. I know this personally, and that the journey through and beyond treatment requires more than medicine alone. Bravery isn't just about pushing forward. "It is about knowing how to stay grounded, connected and present, no matter the terrain or landscape you're walking through." Ben Nevis stands at 1,345m, Scafell Pike is 978m and Snowdon is 1,085m. Kate started the challenge - trekking for a total of 23 miles, ascending a total of 3,064 metres and travelling around 462 miles by road between the locations - on Saturday night. Writing under her post today, the Princess said: "This time last week, completing the National Three Peaks Challenge. A huge thank you to everybody who has supported The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity." Kensington Palace said they believe the Princess is the first member of the Royal Family to have completed the expedition. Kate, pictured at the misty summit of Ben Nevis, could be seen wearing her sapphire and diamond engagement ring, which belonged to William's late mother Diana, Princess of Wales. The Princess, who revealed last year she was in remission, has joined forces with the Royal Marsden to launch a fundraising page where all donations will go towards providing holistic care at the London hospital. In a video posted before she started, she said: "Lots of people have asked me why I'm doing this challenge, and partly - it's personal. "I'm so grateful to be here, to be strong enough to walk these hills. But, more importantly, it's to give something back and acknowledge, really, all the incredible work going on up and down this country." "I've met some incredible people, those people who are living with and beyond cancer, and I know personally how difficult that journey is." "And I really wanted to use this opportunity as my way of contributing to all the wonderful work that's going on, and to support The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity - an organisation very dear to me, but who do extraordinary work supporting those living with and beyond the disease." Mum-of-three Kate reached the summit solo with the support of Mountain Rescue along the route. She said: "I want to raise awareness for the deeper impact of serious illness and the importance of holistic healthcare. Every individual is different, and ensuring a whole person approach to care enables those living through cancer to manage the deeply personal challenge of diagnosis. Holistic therapies complement clinical pathways and support patients' ability to maintain their wellbeing, resilience and quality of life in an exceptionally difficult time. "Healing, whether personal or collective, is not just about fixing what is wrong. It is about finding balance in how we live. Between effort and acceptance, between control and trust, between thinking and simply being." Kate was greeted by other members of her family including Prince William, their three children, her mum and dad Carole and Michael Middleton and her brother James at the base of Snowdon. Dame Cally Palmer, of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, said: "We are immensely grateful for this generous support that will make a difference to the lives of so many cancer patients and their families."
