A woman has died and another is fighting for her life after a car collided with a tree on a busy main road.
The incident happened on Sunday at around 8.40pm on the A20, Barrow Hill, in Sellindge with a Mini Cooper crashed, near to the junction of Meadow Grove.
The driver, a 44-year-old woman, was airlifted to a London hospital where she remains in a life-threatening condition.
The passenger, a 46-year-old woman, was declared dead at the scene. Her next of kin has been informed.
Kent Police are appealing for anyone with information over the incident to get in touch. They would like to speak to people who witnessed or saw the build up of the crash, as well as those with dashcam footage, reported KentLive.
A full statement from the force read: "Witnesses and dashcam footage are sought following a fatal collision in Sellindge.
"Kent Police was called to the A20, Barrow Hill, at about 8.40pm on Sunday 5 July 2026 following reports a car had collided with a tree, near to the junction of Meadow Grove.
"The driver of the yellow Mini Cooper, a 44 year old woman, was airlifted to a London hospital where she remains in a life-threatening condition.
"The passenger, a 46 year old woman was declared deceased at the scene. Her next of kin has been informed.
"Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for anyone who may have seen the collision or the moments leading up to it to get in touch.
"Anyone with information should call the SCIU appeal line on 01622 798538, or email [email protected], quoting reference HW/AL/052/26. Drivers with dashcam which may assist can upload the footage using this link.
People have taken to social media to express their sadness over the incident. One person wrote on Facebook: "Absolutely tragic accident. The emergency services were incredible in their response and the Police officers showed such kindness to anyone near by. Thank you."
