Australia’s Island Pharmaceuticals Ltd. surged as much as 47% after saying its experimental antiviral galidesivir had secured regulatory and ethics approvals for emergency use in patients with the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola in Uganda.
The intravenous drug, which is designed to block viral replication, is expected to become available later this year under a World Health Organization emergency-use program, the Melbourne-based company said Tuesday. The stock traded 30% higher at A$0.48 ($0.33) as of 10:51 a.m. in Sydney after earlier reaching A$0.55, the highest intraday price since December 2025.
