Japan’s state-backed Inpex Corp. signed a 15-year deal with Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. for the supply of liquefied natural gas from its project in the Persian Gulf.
Inpex will buy about 1 million tons of the fuel per year from the Ruwais LNG project, which is scheduled to start commercial operations in 2028, Adnoc said in a statement on Tuesday. Japan got less than 700,000 tons of its gas from the United Arab Emirates last year, or about 1% of total imports, according to ship-tracking data compiled by Bloomberg.
