Iran celebrate USA's World Cup humiliation with instant statement aimed at Donald Trump The United States were bowled out of the World Cup on Tuesday morning following a 4-1 rout from Belgium, with Iran claiming politics was defeated by football The United States crashed out of its home World Cup following a crushing 4-1 loss to Belgium, and now the "whole world is dancing," according to the Iran Football Federation. The USMNT was thoroughly outplayed by Belgium, with Iran taking aim at Donald Trump in a final blow to the USA. Belgium harboured its own complaints about the USMNT after forward Folarin Balogun was allowed to feature despite a red-card ban originally handed down by FIFA, while its manager formed a view on the striker after he approached him directly. Iran narrowly missed out on the knockout rounds but was knocked out in the group stage despite claiming draws in all three matches and believed it was poorly treated at the World Cup. Nevertheless, an Iran football representative was quick to react to the USMNT's elimination after US Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin had previously revelled in Iran being knocked out. Iran issued a statement through a spokesperson, saying: "Now the whole world is dancing to celebrate politics' humiliating defeat by football." The remarks come after a striking statement from Mullin, which also followed a competition during which Iran claimed mistreatment. The country was due to set up a base camp in Arizona but was compelled to move to Mexico. Subsequently, Iran was only allowed to travel to fixtures in the US one day beforehand and would be required to depart hours after the match. Eleven of Iran's staff members, including the president, Mehdi Taj, were also refused visas by US authorities. The row intensified on Monday when Mullin said he did a "happy dance" when Iran failed to qualify and added that he "sang a song or two" in celebration. Speaking at a briefing in Washington, he said: "I'm just glad they're [Iran] done, and they're not coming back. I was so happy when we were able to pull their visas and said they could leave the US soil, and I might've sung a song or two or maybe even danced a happy dance. "I'm very happy they're going back because there wasn't a single team that we dealt with more than them." The Iran Football Federation hit back at Mullin's remarks ahead of the USMNT's Monday fixture with a statement reading: "Iranians are used to the mistreatment and lies of US officials, so no one in Iran is surprised by these hostile remarks. "These remarks once again demonstrate that US officials have no commitment to international law or the principles expected of a host nation capable of organizing a global sporting event. "The fact that he openly celebrates Iran's elimination says far more about him than it does about our team. It reflects a level of pettiness that cannot even tolerate the presence of a football team competing on the world's biggest stage. "After our match against New Zealand, our head coach said that the United States did not want Iran to remain in this tournament because of the inhumane and unprofessional treatment our team experienced. These latest comments only reinforce that belief." On the flip side, Iran expressed gratitude for the warmth extended by Mexico, leaving behind a message in Tijuana thanking residents. It read: "You showed us that hosting a FIFA World Cup is about far more than stadiums and tickets. Sky has upgraded its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle to now include HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+ and Hayu, as well as 135 channels and full Sky coverage of the Premier League and EFL. Sky broadcasts more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more with at least 215 live from the top flight alongside Formula 1, darts and golf. "True hosting is about respect, humanity, and dignity. We leave this World Cup with pride, but also with one fundamental question: Did every team truly compete under equal conditions and equal professional standards?"
