John Lewis has issued an urgent recall notice affecting 15 of its popular products. The retailer is urging anyone who has the items to "stop using them immediately" after a health risk was identified.
A range of door stops and draught excluders is being recalled from customers as they may be contaminated with asbestos. They were on sale from January 31, 2021, to June 11, 2026.
The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) published the recall notice, which will also be shared in stores. It said: "The products present a risk to health as the marble chips sealed within the doorstops and excluders may be contaminated with a small quantity of asbestos.
"Asbestos is a banned substance because it poses a health risk even at low levels of exposure. The products do not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005."
Asbestos can cause damage to the lungs and even cause cancer. The OPSS added: "The products have been recalled from end users by John Lewis and Partners.
"We recommend owners stop using the products immediately and keep them out of reach of children." Anyone with the doorstops must follow the correct disposal advice.
If the product isn't damaged, place it in a heavy-duty plastic bag, double-tape it, label it, and place it in a secure location away from children.
If the product is damaged, clean up sites where the filling has escaped using wet cloths and avoid generating dust. Wear gloves and a mask before putting it in a double bag, along with the gloves, mask and cloths.
Return the product to your nearest John Lewis store for a full refund. If you can't get to a store, contact your local authority for guidance on safe disposal of asbestos in your area.

Dunelm recently issued a similar recall alert for its door stops and draught excluders over an asbestos risk. In May, 27 products sold between January 2019 and February 2026 were recalled.
