BREAKING: Jordan Henderson speaks out from hospital bed after surgery on World Cup injury The England veteran underwent surgery following the freak accident after their win against Mexico Jordan Henderson has provided an update on his recovery after undergoing surgery on his broken wrist on Wednesday. The 36-year-old took to social media for the first time since going under the knife after suffering a freak accident at the World Cup. Henderson has joined England's squad in Kansas City after undergoing surgery on his broken wrist. The Brentford veteran confirmed the procedure has gone well and thanked the hospital after his freak injury following the win in Mexico City. Henderson posted on Instagram: "Surgery done! Let's get ready for the big one on Saturday. Thank you to all the staff that looked after me at Kansas City orthopaedic institute. Especially the three surgeons who carried out the operation. Dr Kenneth P. Unruh, Dr Mark J Winston, Dr Kirk McCullough." England team-mates Marcus Rashford and Morgan Rogers were quick to show their support for their stricken team-mate, adding 'heart emojis' in the comments section. His club Brentford also sent him a message, writing: "Speedy recovery Jordan!" Veteran Henderson has now travelled to Kansas City to be with and support the group ahead of their quarter final with Norway on Saturday. That will be a huge boost for the squad as he is such a popular figure in the squad. Henderson suffered the freak injury after hurdling advertising boards and falling awkwardly after celebrating with fans at the end of their 3-2 victory over Mexico at the Estadio Azteca. He required oxygen as he was stretchered off by medical staff before later heading to hospital in the capital. It comes after he spoke for the first time since the traumatic experience inside the Azteca on Sunday evening. Henderson said on Tuesday: "A night to remember that’s for sure! What an incredible performance against all the different challenges," Henderson said on Instagram. "So proud to be a part of this special team [emojis]. Thanks for all the support, another big one Saturday." His England colleagues were quick to respond. Vice-captain Declan Rice wrote in the comments: "Some man," while Morgan Rogers responded: "What a guy." Elliot Anderson and Djed Spence also displayed their affection with 'heart' emojis to the stricken midfielder. Henderson has professed his desire to stay with the rest of the squad to offer his support and has been in regular touch with his team-mates.
