Morrisons has announced a significant upgrade to 500 of its stores designed to "make life easier" for shoppers.
The supermarket chain is expanding an existing partnership to install parcel storage lockers across a greater number of its branches, allowing customers to collect and return online orders while doing their weekly food shop.
The collaboration with Quadient subsidiary Parcel Pending initially saw lockers rolled out at 230 Morrisons Daily stores in Spring 2025, before being extended to supermarkets across the country.
In June, 125 locations throughout the UK received the new lockers, with the rollout set to reach 500 stores across the retailer's entire network over the coming months.
The self-service lockers will allow shoppers to collect and return parcels from a variety of delivery firms, while also supporting additional services including retail click-and-collect, prescription collection, key exchange and spare parts retrieval.
John Parry, head of popular & useful services at Morrisons, said: "At Morrisons, we are committed to providing services that make life easier for our customers and strengthen the role our stores play within local communities.
"Following the success of our Morrisons Daily partnership, expanding Quadient lockers into our supermarket estate is a natural next step.
"This partnership enables us to offer customers greater flexibility and convenience while enhancing the range of useful services available through our stores."
Recent consumer research by Quadient revealed that 60 per cent of shoppers favour parcel lockers situated at supermarkets, while 59 per cent wish to manage deliveries from various carriers through a single collection point.
The expansion sees Quadient's open locker service grow across the UK. The firm has deployed more than 27,000 locker units worldwide and targets increasing that number to 40,000 by 2030.
