Local equities look set for a cautious open after the US struck Iran for the third time in a week, triggering retaliation against five Middle East nations and adding to uncertainty over oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz. It’s a familiar pattern: energy prices up, stocks down, bonds down, and the dollar stronger. Precious metals are also weakening. But so far, the moves are far from the extremes seen at the start of the conflict earlier this year.
