It's been over 30 years since the original Jurassic Park first came on our screens and it's a franchise that's lived on since its 1993 debut.
Based on Michael Crichton's novel of the same name, released in 1990, the film lives on, with fans all over the world still adoring the shows produced from it.
Allowing us to step back in time to the prehistoric ages, the film follows staff and visitors at a wildlife park of de-extinct dinosaurs on the fictional island of Isla Nublar, where a power outage leads to chaos for the crew.
Sadly some of the beloved cast, which boasts a huge range of big name stars have passed away, including the recent death of Sam Neill. Here take a look at where they are now, and what they have been up to since the film's release.
Sam
Sam Neill, 78, played paleontologist Dr. Alan Grant. He later reprised the role in Jurassic Park III (2001) and more recently returned for Jurassic World Dominion (2022).
The Northern Ireland-born New Zealand actor went on to appear in films like Event Horizon (1997), Wimbledon (2004) and Peter Rabbit (2018). Sam has also had cameo appearances in films like Thor: Ragnarok (2017).
His credits include roles in TV shows like the Tudors, with him playing Cardinal Thomas Wolsey in 2007. He played Major Chester Campbell in Peaky Blinders from 2013 to 2014.
Sam released his memoir Did I Ever Tell You This? in 2023 and ran a wine producing business called Two Paddocks, which was founded the year Jurassic Park was released.
He announced in 2022 he had been diagnosed with angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma and underwent chemotherapy before revealing that he was in remission. Sam told the Sydney Morning Herald in the same year that he's a "solitary single man". He has three four children, including his stepdaughterm and has been married once.
Christopher Luxon, the prime minister of New Zealand, paid tribute to Neill describing him as "one of the greats” and added that he was instrumental in making the New Zealand film industry “what it is today”, calling him “one of our greatest cultural exports”.
Australian prime minister Anthony Albanese said Neill had “earned a special place in Australian hearts”.
A statement posted to Instagram by Neill’s family following his death read: "It is with immense sadness that the whanau (extended family) of Sam Neill share the news of his passing on Monday July 13, in Sydney, Australia.”
"Sam was surrounded by family and passed with the dignity that has characterised his whole life.”
The statement added: “The loss was sudden and unexpected but blessed by the fact that Sam remained cancer-free. They would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at St Vincent’s Private Hospital for their incredible care.
“More details will be shared later, but for now, on behalf of the family, we ask that you respect their privacy as they navigate this immeasurable loss."

In 2018, he told iNews: "It feels great to do it right now, because all the things I’m considering are perfectly suited to the big questions and challenges of having kids, and what you want to expose them to. What you want to leave them with, what life is, and what kind of life you contribute to them.”
