The Royal Family have welcomed a new baby into the fold, as a cousin to the late Queen Elizabeth and King Charles has announced the arrival of her first baby. Flora Vesterberg and her husband, Swedish financier Timothy Vesterberg, announced in an Instagram post that their baby girl had “arrived safely” on the morning of Wednesday July 8.
Flora - who is the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth’s first cousin, Princess Alexandra - confirmed the sweet news by sharing a picture of the newborn sleeping in a crib, while wearing a white dress and a matching bonnet, announcing that the newborn girl’s name is Isabel Marina.
“Our daughter Isabel Marina Vesterberg arrived safely on the morning of 8 July. Timothy and I are overjoyed and full of love for her,” Flora captioned the image.
“She’s named for the blessing that she is as well as my paternal great-grandmother,” she explained. “Her name also means ‘of the sea’ where we always feel most at peace in Scotland and Sweden. Thank you for your thoughtful messages xx.”
Isabel is the first great-grandchild of Princess Alexandra, 89, and is poised to enter the line of succession to the British throne.
Flora follows her father, James, and brother, Alexander Ogilvy, in the line of succession and is currently 61st in line, with Isabel expected to now be the 62nd in line to the throne.
Flora first announced her pregnancy on Instagram in January, as she wrote: “Delighted to share that Timothy and I are expecting our first child. We’re truly over the moon,” alongside a photo of the couple standing among greenery, as Flora placed her hand on her bump.
Flora and Timothy married in a small, private ceremony in 2020 due to the Covid restrictions of the time, before family and friends gathered to attend the 2021 church blessing of the marriage at St. James’s Palace in London.
Among the guests at the nuptials were the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, "the most beautiful royal" Lady Amelia Windsor and Lord Freddie Windsor and his wife Sophie Winkleman - best known for playing Big Suze in Peep Show.
Flora is occasionally seen at royal events, including Trooping the Colour and family weddings, including Lady Gabriella Windsor's at St George's Chapel in Windsor in May 2019.
She was most recently seen at the wedding of Lady Marina Windsor, as she tied the knot with account executive Nico Macauley in late June. Flora was captured in a series of images posted to her Instagram as she cradled her baby bump.
