Freya MacLean, 19, who was studying at Glasgow University, died at the Falls of Falloch near Stirling following reports of a woman in difficulty in the water
A teenage dancer who died at a popular beauty spot "brought comfort and joy to everyone she met", her heartbroken family said.
Freya MacLean, 19, lost her life in a tragic accident at the Falls of Falloch near Stirling following reports of a woman in difficulty in the water at around 10.45pm on Friday.
Her body was later discovered at around 11.45am on Saturday and parents, Samantha and Ruaraidh, have paid tribute to Freya who had been studying primary education at Glasgow University.
"Beloved by family, friends and the wider community, Freya was a truly beautiful soul whose kindness knew no bounds," they told the Daily Record.
"Her warm smile, infectious laughter and caring heart brought comfort and joy to everyone she met. Always generous with her time, she was the friend people turned to, offering unwavering support, encouragement and compassion.
"Her personality lit up every room, and her love, humour and gentle spirit have left an everlasting mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though her time with us was far too short, her legacy of kindness and love will live on forever.
"The family appreciate the support of friends and family and ask that the general public remain respectful of their privacy at this time. The world is a little less bright without her, but infinitely better because she was in it."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The death is being treated as unexplained, but there are no apparent suspicious circumstances.”
Following her death, a GoFundMe page was launched by JC Dance and Cheer Academy, which has raised just under £2,000 so far.
Organisers Charlene McDonald and Laura-Jane Gelston wrote: "As you may have heard, we have tragically lost our beautiful Glitter Girl Freya in a tragic accident.
"Freya truly made such a huge impact on all of our girls. She was truly special and made everyone feel like a friend. She had the most infectious personality, a heart full of kindness and was supportive to everyone.
"She never passed anyone without giving them the warmest smile and was always so cheerful, full of life, and a joy to be around. She had the funniest sense of humour, was always making people laugh, and brought so much fun wherever she went.
"Her beautiful spirit lit up every room and she will be missed more than words can say.
"We would like to do a collection to help contribute towards the unexpected costs Freya’s family are now facing at this incredibly difficult time and to let them know they are in our thoughts.
"Most importantly, please continue to keep Freya's family in your thoughts and prayers, along with all of the girls who had the privilege of calling her their friend, dancing alongside her, and sharing so many wonderful memories together.
"Thank you all for your love, kindness and support during this heartbreaking time. Freya will forever be a cherished part of the JC family, and we will always remember her being so colourful and full of life.
"Freya was so much fun, full of life, and loved by everyone who knew her. Beautiful inside and out, Freya leaves behind countless happy memories that we will treasure forever."
