'Significant' fire breaks out at recycling plant as public told to stay indoors A major incident has been declared after the fire broke out at a recycling centre on Kings Weston Lane in Avonmouth near Bristol in the early hours of this morning Fire crews have been battling a massive fire at a recycling centre near Bristol. Emergency services descended on the facility in Avonmouth after they were first called to the incident at around 3.30am today. Residents have been warned to stay indoors and keep their windows shut as a major incident was declared by Avon Fire and Rescue Service shortly after 6am. Its statement on X, the fire service said: "We're responding to a significant fire at a recycling centre on Kings Weston Lane, Avonmouth. A major incident has been declared. "There's a large smoke plume blowing south. If you're nearby, keep windows and doors closed and stay in doors where possible." This is a Breaking News story.
