A light aircraft pilot took his boredom a little too literally as he spelled out the dullness of the task he was given for everyone to see.
A Ravenair plane was spotted on air traffic monitoring app Flight Radar writing "I'm bored" across the sky above Liverpool. The Piper Tomahawk plane departed from Merseyside and went around the Wirral peninsula, Cheshire and North Wales.
The comic words were spelled out during a two-hour test flight on Saturday after a part was replaced on the plane. The aircraft took off at 11.30am and landed back safely at 1.30pm.
Ravenair, based in Liverpool, said the culprit was a flying instructor aged in his 20s. Operation manager Wayne Barrett told the BBC: "I think the pilot was literally a bit bored as it was just a test flight. Mind you it was pretty skillful flying."
Mr Barrett explained that it was likely a cylinder that needed to be replaced on the aircraft. Following replacements, planes are taken for test turn to ensure everything runs the way it's supposed to.
He said: "He was a bit bored but he probably had to concentrate a lot in the end to spell out the words so he was probably anything but. He's not in trouble but we have had a lot of attention from it. The plane is now safely back in the hangar and the pilot is on his day off."
