Boy who tragically died in Swanholme Lakes is pictured as family pay touching tribute Iretomiwa Abiodun Micheal, 16, also known as Tomiwa, was recovered from Swanholme Lakes in Lincoln last week - his family have now shared a touching tribute to their “unforgettable” son A teenage boy who died after getting into difficulty while swimming in a lake has been pictured as his heartbroken family pay tribute. Iretomiwa Abiodun Micheal, 16, also known as Tomiwa, was recovered from Swanholme Lakes in Lincoln and rushed to hospital last week. But he tragically could not be saved and died at 8:50pm on July 9, after being pulled from the water about three hours earlier. His family have now issued a touching tribute via Lincolnshire Police. It reads: "Tomiwa was a vibrant, energetic, and unforgettable young man whose presence illuminated every space he entered. His laughter, warmth, and joyful spirit touched countless lives. "As the eldest of four brothers, Tomiwa embraced his role with pride and maturity. He was a natural leader, a protector, a guide, and a constant source of encouragement. His younger brothers adored him, and he cared for them with tenderness, always making them smile and supporting them in every way. He was our firstborn, our pride, and he honoured his parents by following instructions respectfully and living with discipline, purpose and integrity. "Tomiwa thrived on structure and intentional living. He valued punctuality and was never late for any commitment. Whether attending school, football practice, or church programmes, he showed unwavering dedication. His meticulous nature was evident in his organised routines and his sharp, stylish appearance. Known for always carrying a comb or hairbrush and a mirror, Tomiwa took great pride in his personal hygiene – he was exceptionally neat, never shared cups, and maintained strict cleanliness in all aspects of his life. "A true social butterfly, Tomiwa made friends effortlessly and was kind to everyone he met. He consistently sought the good of others and uplifted those around him. His home was filled with laughter because of his unique spirit, infectious joy, and generous heart. "In school, Tomiwa was a committed student with a promising future. His passion for football was extraordinary. He played with pride and determination for Greenbank FC and Lincoln City FC, never missing a training session or match. Football was more than a sport to him; it was a calling he pursued with enthusiasm and discipline. "Tomiwa’s love for God was the foundation of his life. He was active and faithful member of the church youth ministry, never missing any programme. His devotion to service led him to join the school youth choir at just 16 years old. His faith was evident in his choices, his conduct, and the way he lived each day. "Tomiwa leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, discipline, joy, and compassion. Though his life was short, it was profoundly impactful. He leaves a lasting example for his brothers, comfort for his parents, and cherished memories for everyone who knew him. "The family takes solace in the Christian hope of the resurrection, believing that in God’s perfect time, we will meet again and part no more. Tomiwa will forever remain in our hearts. Mr Abiodun Micheal & Mrs Tope Micheal."
