LaToya later won the Miss Jamaica Bikini International title and dedicated her win to her dad in a heartfelt message. Outside of pageantry, LaToya was an an actress and dance instructor. She was also invested in the Transition Project, a program that helps underprivileged teenagers prepare for adulthood. Current Miss Universe Jamaica titleholder, Gabrielle Henry, was among those paying tribute. She said LaToya's passing is a "a great loss" whose impact and voice "will not be forgotten."
