A crime scene has been declared after a house fire south of Brisbane.
The blaze broke out at an address in Adelaide Street in Kingston just after 3pm.
Queensland Police Inspector Jason Barrowcliffe said people had escaped from the house.
"It's unknown how the fire was started, but there were large plumes of smoke as far as Holmview," he said.
It took about an hour to bring the fire under control.
An emergency declaration for nearby streets was issued due to concerns for neighbouring properties, but that has since been revoked.
