London’s 24-Hour Trading Is Unlikely to Revive Market, GAM Says The London Stock Exchange’s plan to introduce nearly 24-hour trading for equities may fall short of reviving the bourse’s fortunes, the head of GAM Investments’ global equities team said. The new system, branded LSE 24, appears to be an attempt to reverse the LSE’s decline over the last few years by increasing access to London’s equity markets, GAM’s Paul Markham said. The firm is a Zurich-based investment platform with 12.5 billion Swiss francs ($15.4 billion) in assets under management, 17% of which is invested in equities.
