TikTokker missing in Tameside is found dead as tributes pour in for 'legend' Michael Selwood, also known as Mikey, was found dead after going missing in Tameside, Greater Manchester, over the weekend. Tributes have poured in for a popular TikTok influencer with thousands of followers who was found dead after being reported missing in Greater Manchester. Michael Selwood was reported missing in Tameside over the weekend, with police issuing an urgent appeal for anyone who had information on his whereabouts. Sadly, following a search by Greater Manchester Police, Michael was found dead at around 5pm on Sunday (July 19). His family have been informed and are currently being supported by specialist officers. Michael, known as Mikey to friends, was a popular figure on social media, amassing 21,000 followers on one of his TikTok pages and around 38,000 followers on another. The influencer has since been inundated with tributes from friends and fans on his social pages since news of his passing was made public, Manchester Evening News reports. One tribute posted on Facebook read: "Rest easy Michael. Gone far too soon, you will missed." Another said: "My good mate Mikey was had some good chats he is a legend in my eyes. Rip my guy." A tribute posted on TiKTok read: "Absolutely gutted. We've had some great chats over the past few months, can't believe it rest easy big man." Another TikTok user commented: "RIP Mikey you will be missed by so many." A page has been set up on Facebook with details for a balloon release for Michael on Saturday (July 25). The event is scheduled to take place in the town of Dukinfield, near Tameside. Police have yet to release any further details surrounding Michael's death at this stage. In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "Sadly, officers searching for Michael found him deceased at around 5pm yesterday (19 July). "Michael’s family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers at this difficult time. We would like to thank everyone who shared and supported this appeal."
